Hello Garden Friends!
Happy new year! The MHC Student Garden is entering its third season this year, and we couldn't be more excited. While February may not seem like the time to think about planting and sprouts, it certainly is the time to start planning this seasons garden. We are working on lots of fun things; new seating areas, more crops, and more student involvement in the process. We will definitely keep you updated on any news or events coming up.
In the mean time, if you are interested in local, Real food, please come to a Food Justice Society meeting this semester (formerly the MHC Garden Society). Or shoot us an email at mhcgarden@gmail.com if you'd like to be more involved. We welcome new voices into our discussion and would love to hear yours.
Check out the Real Food Conference coming up on February 21st at the University of Mass. Amherst campus! Check it out at http://realfoodchallenge.org/northeast/summit09.
Also, if you are thinking about a summer job, consider applying for the position of summer garden manager. It is a wonderful way to be outside everyday playing in the dirt (and get paid!). Look for the application on the Center for the Environment website.
We hope your semester is off to a good start,
The MHC Student Garden Managers.
