NOFA part 1!

Hello blog! I decided to wipe the cobwebs off my keyboard and make a long overdue post on here. This weekend Madeleine and I attended the 39th annual Northeast Organic Farming Associations annual summer conference aka NOFA. It was held at UMass which was very convenient for us, but also meant that we did not get to eat the delicious food there on the meal plan, but we did get the chance to buy some yummy food from a food truck.

NOFA is made up multiple workshops per day. On Friday we both went to the Community-led food initiatives workshop which was mostly about how to create a CSA. I then went to a how to workshop on making your own herbal medicine.
On Saturday before lunch we went to the Farm Workers Movements and Cheese describing and tasting workshops. The cheese tasting will definitely need to have it's own post! But here is a preview.

After lunch I went to the Owning a Family Cow workshop and both of us got the chance to milk an adorable Dutch belted cow named Cocoa from Hampshire farm.

We also were invited to visit their farm and come meet the calves!

Right now I'm going to go back up to the garden now that the sun is a little lower in the sky and pick some more beans! They are very good at hiding. I wish they would be more outgoing.

More on NOFA later!
